JARETH AMBER

Two years after London artist Jareth released her debut EP, Moonchild, the extraordinary creative is back with plans to release a second EP. Jareth makes her re-introduction with ‘Amber’, a stunning piece of experimental RnB with airy, soulful vocals. This futuristic soundscape is a testament to Jareth’s talent and choice of collaborators - Gent Mason who co-wrote the song and Karl Zine on production. Those looped, warped and clipped backing vocals becoming enmeshed with the theremin-esque melody and contrasting to the hard clicks of the electronic percussion. Although, it’s a largely digital creation, ‘Amber’ is essentially human, as you hear in the expressive voice of Jareth, “I know I’m not the only one, / Trying to figure what they want, / What’s the word when you want to run, / But can’t move a muscle.” With the Fire In The Soul EP scheduled for release this year, we’re sure to have Jareth back on the pages of TMR before too long. - Hannah Thacker [Photo credit: Russell Cobb]
